Allison and Chris were married at River’s Patio and danced the night away in an outdoor, colorful, and fun summer wedding at Rivers in downtown Chicago. Their wedding didn’t lack anything in the way of color; Orange-Peach-Coral-Pink, it was beautiful and complimented the height of summer perfectly!
We had such a blast working with Allison and her Mom putting all of the decor elements together. For the ceremony Allison and her Mom purchased hanging aqua votives which we filled with pops of color accented with crisp gardenia greenery. Bright coral dahlias, coral spray roses, and garden roses were used to create a vibrant and effective backdrop for their wedding ceremony.
The tablescapes continued with the fun and colorful theme. Brightly colored blooms including coral dahlias, orange and yellow protea, coral and orange dahlias, delicate chamomile daisies and funky yellow billy balls adorned clean modern vases running the length of the rectangular table. Aqua and white frosted votives accented the centerpieces and miniature potted succulents sat at each guest’s place setting. No detail was left unnoticed! Allison and Chris-thanks for choosing us to bring your fun & colorful vision to life. We wish you both the best!

Every summer, Chicago plays host to some of the hottest musicians in the world in Grant Park for Lollapalooza. This past year, we hit the musical jackpot when we were asked to provide floral and decor for the Samsung Galaxy Backstage Artists Lounge.
Not only was it cool to get to go behind the scenes and work so closely to celebrities like Sam Smith, but the final product was swoon-worthy as well.
We attained a super modern and stylish look by combining concrete planters and terrariums with a wide variety of different succulents, ferns, sedum, and more.
We hope to be back this coming year, decking out the space for artists such as Lana Del Rey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Third Eye Blind, Ellie Goulding and more…
See photos below for a behind the scenes look!
Modern, Colorful, CB2: These were all adjectives that Christina and Jimmy used to describe the vision for their Summer wedding at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA). We loved their direction of CB2 as inspiration and really took it upon ourselves to create an atmosphere that encapsulated that fun and contemporary style while adding our own fresh approach.
For starters, the guests found their place-cards nestled amongst a spread of white pebbles and a collection of succulents to start the night off right with a clean modern feel (and who doesn’t love succulents?)
As the sun set, the bistro lights that hung over the tables on the terrace started to glow and filled the space with an enchanting mood that only summer nights in a big city can bring about. The table centerpieces consisted of geometric terrariums, oversized glass cloches, dusty blue cylindrical vases, and long rectangular glass vases, all filled with an equally vibrant array of flowers.
The collection of flowers consisted of Protea, Garden Roses, Spray Roses, Billy-Balls, Succulents, and Dahlias, with accents of pink stock, air-plants, and geranium to add texture.
As is the case with any great wedding, the success is always found in the details. From the beautifully designed wedding … Read More »
We are so incredibly honored that one of our favorite weddings from this past summer was featured on Martha Stewart Weddings today! This has been one of our goals since owner Rachel began Life in Bloom, but we didn’t expect to accomplish it so soon! Christina & Jimmy were such a wonderful couple to work with. So kind & caring, and had great ideas for their modern wedding but also let us have a little fun with the design as well. We can’t wait to share more photos from this wedding soon but for now head on over to Martha Stewart Weddings HERE to see more of their colorful & geometric wedding at the Museum of Contemporary Art!
Katie & Brendan were married at the end of May at ‘Our Lady of Perpetual Help’ in Glenview, IL and they celebrated afterwards with a gorgeous, colorful wedding at the North Shore Country Club. Their color palette and flowers were bright, fun, and fresh. The contrast between the bold colors of the coral charm peonies and the soft neutrals of the succulents was simply captivating. I’ll let the photos do the talking. Thanks to Avant Garde Photography for these breathtaking photos!
Last weekend my husband and I took a little anniversary trip to the Empire State. On Saturday morning we ventured over to the New York City Flower Market, which contains a multitude of wholesale floral markets, silk flowers, vases, and plants all concentrated in a small quaint area of New York! Enjoy a few pictures from our trip to the markets!
Today’s flower friday isn’t quite a flower, but we still love it, and it is gaining popularity among wedding flowers and decor. Succulents! They come in a variety of sizes and colors and the best news is that they are available all year round. They can typically be found in green, gray, silvery blue, and reddish purple tones. I’ll let the succulents talk for themselves. Enjoy the images below! The possibilities of incorporating these lovelies are endless! Would any of you think about having a bouquet just of succulents? Any takers?
