This early Fall Wedding in a Lincoln Park Restaurant was beautified with a neutral color palette and accented with lots of eucalyptus & olive greenery. I seriously cannot get enough of these bouquets! We combined neutral ivory & taupe roses with hints of ranunculus & lisianthus and lots of greenery in the form of olive & seeded eucalyptus and finished them off with satin ivory ribbon. A warm candlelit glow radiated throughout the restaurant as toasts were shared and the couple celebrated with their closest family & friends. Gold mercury glass vases featured hydrangea, roses, lisianthus, hints of queen anne’s lace and lots of greenery while each place setting was finished off with a delicate olive sprig. Congratulations Jen & Nick. It was a joy working with you both and we wish you the best!

We hope you are ready for a whole lot of prettiness! This wedding that we produced this past August at the Armour House in Lake Forest, IL had plenty prettiness to go around and was something straight out of a fairy tale! This sweet couple had a vision of a blue floral palette, which can be tricky, but we were up for the challenge. Starting with the Bridal Bouquet which consisted of dusty miller and brunnia berries along with a primarily white collection of garden roses, anemone and lisianthus, we tied that all together with a beautiful soft blue ribbon from Silk & Willow. The Bridesmaids had similar flowers with the addition of Privet Berries and pops of pale blue Tweedia.
The main focal of the ceremony were the two large urn arrangements which overflowed with the most stunning blue hydrangea accented with dusty miller and blue Delphinium. These two arrangements sat on white pedestals which helped to frame the ceremony space perfectly in the outdoor garden which can otherwise feel like a big open space.
Moving into the Reception, guests couldn’t help but admire the jaw-dropping staircase display that we put together. We completely covered … Read More »
While recently updating our website galleries, we were sorting through quite a large collection of beautiful photos from work that we have done over the past few years. Some weddings really stood out and this one that we produced for a lovely couple who got married at The Rookery this past year, is certainly one of those!
The deep, bold reds were so captivating and complimented Chicago’s seasonal landscape to perfection! (as well as the bridesmaids’ dressed) Add in the subtle accents of gold which went hand in hand with the beautiful space that is The Rookery, and you have yourself a real winner! Codrean Photography did an incredible job capturing their intimate wedding day and we feel so grateful to have played a small role in making their day so special.
Congratulations Alyssa & Stephen!
2015 was quite a year for Life in Bloom! Full of exciting changes and more beautiful events than we could count (okay, 43 if we are keeping track), we couldn’t be more excited to head into 2016.
In February, we moved into a beautiful new studio located in the west town neighborhood of Chicago (2632 W Grand Ave) and with a new oversized floral cooler, we are no longer limited to the confines of our private residence (Quite a sigh of relief)!
Over the year we worked with 38 different couples to create 38 unique weddings as well as a handful of corporate clients including transforming the Backstage Artist Lounge at Lollapalooza! That was definitely a highlight of the summer. As we look back at 2015 we can’t help but be thankful for the support of all of our couples, friends and family who helped make 2015 far and away our most successful years yet! Enjoy a brief recap and some of our favorite photos from this past year below and cheers to an even brighter 2016!
One of our first designs this year was for a bridal shoot with Tamara Gruner Photography which ended up being featured on Style Me Pretty TWICE. We … Read More »
Fall is, without a doubt, one of our favorite seasons! Here in the Midwest, the weather is great for weddings. Limited rain, lots of sunlight, cool (but not frigid) temps; Not to mention, the floral options are plentiful. And more so than ever, it is a great time of year to incorporate a range of different textures. Grasses, succulents, greens, blooms, or even berries are all more than acceptable during this time of year. Here is just a short preview of some of our favorite fall weddings that we have done here at Life In Bloom over the past few years. Feeling inspired?

If you have ever been to the Chicago History Museum, you know how incredibly beautiful the space is. So it was important to our couple, Rachel and Aaron, that we create a look that fit the preppy, yet elegant venue.
We had the pleasure of working with Emily of Five Grain Events which was a treat because by the time the couple came to us, they had a pretty clear idea of the style that they were after. Overall they wanted to create a fresh, organic feel, and to do that we started off by creating a custom walnut-stained Chuppah to give an organic feel to the ceremony. From the Chuppah, we draped a lush garland accented with white spray roses and peonies and intertwined it with a fabric cover that had been passed down from the Groom’s family.
Flanking the start of each aisle were two urns filled with an oversized arrangement of olive branches. Each chair along the aisle was accented with the cutest little bouquets consisting of spray roses, seeded eucalyptus, and olive.
After the ceremony, guests mingled in the foyer where they found their dinner seating assignments hung on a boxwood-covered wall, keeping with the overall green feel of the wedding. Upon entering the main ballroom, the simplicity of the tall olive arrangements was captivating. A 20’+ garland adorned the … Read More »
Sangeeta & Joe were married this past memorial day weekend at the Chicago Botanic Gardens in Glencoe, IL. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for their tented reception in the McGinley Pavilion. We actually spent a lot of time trying to capture the perfect color palette for their wedding.
We wanted to give Sangeeta & Joe the bright vibrant color that they wanted while also creating something unique and beautiful. Bold colors can be tough to do right but when we landed on sherbet as the inspiration for our color palate we knew we had something special!
From the big fluffy bouquets to the lush head table filled with coral charm peonies, garden roses, stock, lisianthus, and roses, the entire tent just screamed summer! It certainly helped that we lucked out with some of the most robust and colorful coral charm peonies that we have ever seen! While overall the wedding was simple, I think these photos (by Emilia Jane Photography) just goes to show how impactful a stunning color palette can be. Enjoy!

This past June, we had the joy of designing and producing a beautiful wedding at the Bridgeport Art Center’s Skyline Loft. This was our second wedding that we had done at Bridgeport and just like the last one, the bride and groom were close friends which made this one even more special.
There were so many beautiful elements and details that made up Sean and Morgan’s Preppy, Hamptons – Inspired Wedding and in a less-than-modest way, I think we nailed it! Some of the elements worth noting:
Elevator Garlands: If you have ever been to a wedding or an event at the Bridgeport Art Center, you know how exciting entering the space can be. An oversized freight elevator equipped with a full bar and lounge grouping transported guests to the skyline loft at the top floor. We draped garlands along the elevator, creating a super cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Ceremony Trellis Backdrop: Sean and Morgan exchanged vows in front of this all white trellis backdrop covered in smilax and accented with pops of plush peonies and ivory spray roses. At the start of the aisle stood two boxwood topiaries welcoming guests into this garden-inspired affair.
The Hydrangea Garland: Over 130 stems were used to create this lush hydrangea garland that ran the … Read More »
A few weeks ago we gave you a behind-the-scenes tour of our new studio and today we’ll show you what we were working on and how perfectly it all came together at the Ritz Carlton Chicago for the 2015 Martha Stewart Bridal Show. The annual Martha Stewart Bridal Show pulls together some of the best wedding vendors that Chicago has to offer, and we were thrilled to be a small part of it, by providing the floral for Ashley of La Belle Fleur Events Booth. We collaborated with Ashley of La Belle Fleur Events to create a romantic, soft & fluffy blooms to fill her tablescape that Martha Stewart herself would certainly approve of!
Ashley of La Belle Fleur Events designed and dressed the table, which was covered in a deep navy linen, with white ceramic vases overflowing with pink astilbe, ranunculi, stock, garden roses, and rice flower. She added some mini topiaries to the table to provide that fresh, summer-in the Hamptons ambience. Lastly, the table was set with beautiful blue and white china from Halls, and each place setting held a custom-designed menu from Sarah Drake Design. The space was framed with a custom white trellis wall that acted as a soft, inviting backdrop.
Thanks to Ashley of La Belle Fleur Events for inviting … Read More »
This past winter we had the pleasure of working with Betty and Johnny on their wedding at Prairie Production. The blank white canvas that is Prairie Production allowed us to create a very bold and powerful statement with punches of pink and red. The white ceremony drapes were tied back with beautiful arrangements filled with pink and red roses, fuchsia stock, white snapdragon, and accents of dusty miller. The bride (dressed in the most stunning red dress you’ve ever seen) carried a lush bouquet consisting of an equally stunning floral palette with the addition of the most beautiful pink peonies and ranunculus. We lined the aisle with pink, white and fuchsia rose petals, and tied petite, yet striking, floral arrangements to the white chairs that lined the aisle. All of this tied perfectly together with the pink and white globe lanterns that were hung from the ceiling above.
All of this beauty was captured by one of our personal favorite photographers: Kina Wicks! Enjoy some of the beautiful shots below… Congratulations to Betty and Johnny and cheers to a lifetime of happiness!
