Kenilworth Club Wedding

Posted on July 25th, by Life in Bloom in blog. No Comments

Silvia & Ron were married in Kenilworth at the Kenilworth Union Church and then celebrated their reception just down the road at the Kenilworth Club.  It was a perfect spring day in May… one that Brides only dream of!

From the moment I met Silvia I knew this wedding was going to be fabulous.  When your bride tells you her color palette is coming directly from a family Kimono, you just know it’s going to be unique and original.  The color scheme was orange, yellow, green, and white, which complimented the Kenilworth Club perfectly.  One of my personal favorite pieces of this wedding was Silvia’s bouquet.  She liked lots of texture and little flowers so we included all the best spring blooms available at that time along with some airplants!  Some of the other blooms that we incorporated were lilac, ranunculus (another favorite), astilbe, agapanthus, and anemone.  Thanks Silvia & Ron for including us in your special day &  thanks to Lilly Photography for the amazing photos below!

North Shore Country Club Wedding

Katie & Brendan were married at the end of May at ‘Our Lady of Perpetual Help’ in Glenview, IL and they celebrated afterwards with a gorgeous, colorful wedding at the North Shore Country Club.  Their color palette and flowers were bright, fun, and fresh.  The contrast between the bold colors of the coral charm peonies and the soft neutrals of the succulents was simply captivating.  I’ll let the photos do the talking.  Thanks to Avant Garde Photography for these breathtaking photos!

Mid America Club Colorful Spring Wedding

Posted on June 5th, by Life in Bloom in blog. No Comments

Kate & Joe’s wedding was one for the books with some of the most perfect florals, in my opinion.  Their color palette was filled with gold, blush, and corals.  Kate’s bouquet was by far my favorite thing about this wedding and one of my all-time favorite bouquets to date!  We made a cascading bouquet full of the MOST gorgeous coral charm peonies, peach juliet roses, delicate sweet pea, ranunculus.  I could go on and on.  The flower gods truly sent us the most beautiful flowers for their wedding.  The bouquet complimented Kate’s gold dress beautifully.

Kate & Joe held their colorful Spring wedding at the Mid America Club, which is on the 80th floor of the AON tower.  Let me tell you, the view up there is incredible.  The room boasts expansive views of both Millennium Park and the lake.  For the centerpieces we used a variety of mercury glass candles to create different candlescapes on each table as they were holding a cocktail style reception.  The abundance of candlelight complimented the twinkling skyline perfectly.

Kate & Joe we loved working with you on your beautiful & fun wedding!!  Thanks for including us in your most special day.

Wedding Flower Friday

Posted on May 30th, by Life in Bloom in blog, Weddings & Events, Weddings and Events. No Comments

Time for another round of Wedding Flower Friday, this time with the funky & cool flower, Sandersonia.  How unique is this flower?!  I just think they are so cute.  To me, they look like little orange hot air balloons.  They make a statement grouped together in mass.  A few weeks ago we used them in our cocktail arrangements for Silvia & Ron’s Wedding at the Kenilworth Club.  They also look great tucked into bouquets or large gardeny arrangements.  Enjoy and Happy Friday!

Mix & Mingle Wedding Trend Event

Posted on May 12th, by Life in Bloom in blog, Weddings & Events, Weddings and Events. No Comments

We were thrilled when Ashley of Midwestern Bride asked us to be a part of a tablescape design for the Mix & Mingle Wedding Trend Event which occurred this past Spring at the Rittergut Wine Bar!  Ashley was going for a rustic tablescape with pops of color in the florals.  She selected the tableware and vintage tins and let us run wild with ideas for the florals.  We stuck with a peachy-orange palette with lots of added greens for a loose and wild texture to tie in the organic look.  The ranunculus & poppies looked fabulous and really gave the table a vibrant and energetic look.  Thanks to Tuan Bui Photography for capturing the wonderful photos below!

Can’t wait to work together with Midwestern Bride again this Fall for Bailey & Michael’s Wedding at Rivers (Rittergut’s outdoor event space & patio)!!  It’s going to be quite the classy affair!

Modern Wing of the Art Institute Wedding

Posted on January 23rd, by Life in Bloom in blog. No Comments

So excited to share these photos from Timothy Whaley Photography from Mary Ellen & Chris’s October Wedding at Terzo Piano (Modern Wing of the Art Institute).  The two tied the knot on the Bluhm Terrace, where the Chicago skyline acted as a backdrop to the ceremony, creating a dramatically breathtaking setting.

Mary Ellen & Chris came to us with a vision of a modern & jewel toned wedding.  We incorporated a variety of rectangular vases to create a clean, modern look down the rectangular dining tables.  The floral consisted of antique blue hydrangea, ti leaves, orchids, calla lilies and trachelium.  Another highlight of their wedding was the place card table where we put together a variety of vases filled with water and floating candles to create the feel of an urban skyline at dusk and its twinkling lights.

For all of you couples looking for a gorgeous modern venue with an incredible skyline view, you definitely need to visit the Modern Wing!  Its outdoor ceremony space overlooks the gorgeous Millenium Park with the skyline in the background.  It’s one of our absolute favorite places in the city.  Congratulations again Mary Ellen & Chris, it was an absolute joy working with you both!

Art Revolution Wedding

Posted on January 14th, by Life in Bloom in blog. No Comments

Sarah & Nick were married this past October at the gorgeous loft venue of Art Revolution.  We had the pleasure of transforming the space into a rustic fall brilliance filled with rich colors and an array of textures.

One of my favorite pieces from the wedding was the place card arrangement which greeted guests as they entered the room prior to the reception.  The place card palette was constructed out of an old palette which we transformed into a unique focal piece filled with a plethora of floral, foliage, and grasses that awaited guests as they stepped out of the elevator.

Another favorite was Sarah’s bouquet.  It was, without a doubt, one of my all time favorites.  Made of garden roses, ranunculus, stunning cafe au lait dahlias along with deep burgundy astrantia, snowberries and touches of jasmine vine and clematis vine, this bouquet perfectly captured the organic and rustic feel that Sarah was after as well as every last ounce of beauty that fall has to offer.

Working with Sarah & Nick was a dream as they trusted my creativity completely and let me incorporate so many fun and unique textures into their wedding flowers.  Congratulations you two and thanks for being so receptive … Read More »

Lisle Autumnal Wedding

Posted on January 13th, by Life in Bloom in blog, Weddings & Events, Weddings and Events. No Comments

Molly & Bruce were married this past November at the Hyatt in Lisle.  We created bold & vibrant bouquets & boutonnieres for their bridal party with lots of fall textures.  Molly’s favorite rose is the ‘Circus’ Rose so we made sure to include it in both her bouquet & the bridesmaids’.    We incorporated bold autumnal colored roses along with leucodendron, chocolate colored cymbidium orchids, bright yellow billy balls, along with red hypericum and orange celosia to name a few.  Huge thanks to Color & Cake Photography for the beautiful images below!

Modern Wing Wedding at the Art Institute of Chicago

Posted on October 29th, by Life in Bloom in blog. No Comments

Today on the blog, we are pleased to share a few images from Mary Ellen & Chris’s stunning October wedding at The Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago.  Bluhm Terrace, where Mary Ellen and Chris exchanged  vows, has one of the most breathtaking views of the city.  It overlooks Millennium Park and all of its fall beauty.  For anyone planning a city wedding, this venue is a must see!  The pictures I took simply DO NOT do it justice!

Mary Ellen & Chris came to us with a jewel tone color palette, perfect for a Fall wedding!  They were looking for modern, colorful centerpieces that would provide a wow-factor for their guests.  We covered the tables with gunmetal-gray table runners to help bring out the deep, rich colors of the floral palate.  For the centerpieces we used a variety of square vases, ranging in size, to give a modern look, and filled them with lush, tropical blooms and foliage.  The delphinium that we used was some of the most beautiful delphinium I have ever seen!  The head table was quite possibly my favorite part of the wedding to design.  We created a very unique, linear centerpiece with the large … Read More »
