One of our favorite moments of 2016 so far was creating Catherine and Jesse’s flower wall at City Winery. The outdoor patio made for the perfect ceremony spot: ivy covered walls, planter boxes filled with greenery, wooden barrels, and the gorgeous white and pink flower wall. The sweet couple, with exceptional style, were wed in front of the flower wall that was later repurposed behind their sweetheart table.
The reception space that doubles as a concert venue was set with lush garlands filled with hydrangea, peonies, roses, spray roses, and mums. Tall, glass candles adorned the garlands to create the perfect dinner ambiance. The wedding from start to finish was romantic and organic, just how we like it!
We wish Catherine and Jesse years of happiness! Check out their stunning wedding below captured by Timothy Whaley Photography:

Have you ever seen a wedding that looks like a fairy tale? The lighting of the day is just perfect, the couple so happy, and the florals all whimsical and romantic? Dana and Stanley’s wedding was exactly that. Their rustic-chic wedding at Abbey Farms in Aurora was one to remember.
This sweet couple could not have had a more perfect palette. Peonies, sweet pea, cafe au lait dahlias, lisianthus, spray roses, queen anne’s lace, seeded eucalyptus, stock, astillbe and dusty miller all created this soft, peach/pink, wondrous combination.
The ceremony at a neighboring church was wedding-ready after clutches of floral were added to line the aisle. The flower girl wore a babies breath floral crown and the bridesmaids carried petite bouquets to match Dana’s. The men wore ranunculus, dusty miller and brunia berry boutonnieres.
The reception was filled with romantic centerpieces, white linens, gold calligraphy, and a beautiful sunset! The entire day was shot by the talented Katherine Salvatori. Check out Dana and Stan’s big day below…

Sarah and Alex were one of the sweetest couples we have ever met here at Life in Bloom. From the very beginning we knew they were going to be lovely to work with and they were just that. Their Galleria Marchetti Wedding was set on one of the hottest days of the summer, but that didn’t stop Sarah from looking unbelievably stunning and it certainly did not drain their spirits one bit. The two even stopped for ice cream during their pictures, that’s our kind of couple!
The ceremony was set outside in front of Galleria’s large trellis. We draped white fabric from beam to beam to add a hint of romance as well as added chair decor to match the color palette. Guests were greeted with a moss “N” that hung on the gates of Galleria to signify their new last initial. Our boxwood wall hung a timeline of their years together and even ended with their first look on the same day that planners, La Belle Fleur Events, had developed before the ceremony.
Inside the tented reception was a white, blush and gray palette. Silver compotes, candles, and lanterns filled the reception tables where Sarah and Alex’s closest family and friends enjoyed dinner … Read More »
Galleria Marchetti is one of our favorite Chicago wedding venues to work at. With it’s beautiful outdoor ceremony space and a newly upgraded tent, this truly unique venue offers couples a chance to create something stunning with a relatively blank slate. This year our team has a total of three weddings there (two of which we have already produced, and one more this coming September). Today we are sharing photos from Mary & Stephen’s June wedding at Galleria Marchetti with planning by Five Grain Events and photos by Gerber & Scarpelli.
Some of our favorite elements of their big day were the custom moss covered letter which welcomed guests into the courtyard for cocktail hour, the moss covered escort-card table, and of course the most beautiful tall focal arrangements as centerpieces.
The overall palette of peonies, hydrangea, ranunculus all in shades of soft whites and blushes with tufts of greenery helped paint a perfectly classic and romantic ambience throughout the tent. Mary & Stephen were the sweetest couple and so deserving of such a beautiful wedding celebration. We have no doubt that they will enjoy an extremely long and joyful life together! Cheers!

A few weeks ago we gave you a behind-the-scenes tour of our new studio and today we’ll show you what we were working on and how perfectly it all came together at the Ritz Carlton Chicago for the 2015 Martha Stewart Bridal Show. The annual Martha Stewart Bridal Show pulls together some of the best wedding vendors that Chicago has to offer, and we were thrilled to be a small part of it, by providing the floral for Ashley of La Belle Fleur Events Booth. We collaborated with Ashley of La Belle Fleur Events to create a romantic, soft & fluffy blooms to fill her tablescape that Martha Stewart herself would certainly approve of!
Ashley of La Belle Fleur Events designed and dressed the table, which was covered in a deep navy linen, with white ceramic vases overflowing with pink astilbe, ranunculi, stock, garden roses, and rice flower. She added some mini topiaries to the table to provide that fresh, summer-in the Hamptons ambience. Lastly, the table was set with beautiful blue and white china from Halls, and each place setting held a custom-designed menu from Sarah Drake Design. The space was framed with a custom white trellis wall that acted as a soft, inviting backdrop.
Thanks to Ashley of La Belle Fleur Events for inviting … Read More »
For those of you who are familiar with the work of Claude Monet, upon recalling some of his famous paintings, images of a natural setting with reflective bodies of water baring lily pads likely come to mind.
Inspired by Claude’s artistic style, trademarked by a seemingly blurry combination of oil pastels, and a love for nature, Ashley La Fleur of La Belle Fleur Events spearheaded a collaborative effort in creating our own work of art that mimicked Claude’s love for nature and all of its beauty.
In our own interpretation, we created a romantic scene where we brought to life, a soft, pastel color palette reminiscent of Monet’s work. From the flatware to the overhanging floral focal and everything in between, the space was filled with a feeling of translucent airiness.
One of our favorite elements from the shoot was the suspended “chandelier” which we constructed out of varying shades of blue delphinium and lime-green amaranthus, all hanging from a manzanita branch to create a perfectly whimsical & dreamy enclosure.
We also created some beautiful bouquets that captured both the color palette as well as the mood of a Parisian pond in the summer time. With a collection of Cafe Au Lait Dahlias, Ginger, Amaranthus, Astilbe, … Read More »
Timeless, elegant, and romantic to the core. Those are just a few words to describe Andrea & Cam’s gorgeous wedding at the Chicago History Museum that we were so lucky to be a part of this past July! Because Andrea is also in the wedding industry, we were so honored that she chose us to bring her floral vision to life!
The color palette of blush, ivory, & lavender that Andrea chose was a perfect compliment to the season and also to their venue. The Chicago History Museum is stunning! If you are looking for a classic Chicago venue then you must check it out! The soft gray walls of the venue provided the perfect backdrop for the light shimmering gold linens and pastel flowers that adorned the tables. The centerpieces were designed in gold mercury glass compotes and filled with the most romantic blooms. White hydrangea, peach & blush garden roses, lavender stock, pink lisianthus, and touches of eucalyptus provided a very elegant and timeless look for the centerpieces.
Andrea’s bouquet was so beautiful, I wanted to submerge my face in it… Peonies are also one of her favorite flowers, and with their wedding falling at the end of July, one … Read More »
Jessie & Chris were married at the Garfield Park Conservatory this past Fall in October. The Garfield Park Conservatory, which sits on the outskirts of the city on the west side, is a historic gem! The Architecture of the building itself is stunning, and when you combine that with its super lush and exotic array of plants, it is hard to beat as far as wedding venues go.
Of all of the weddings that we produced this past year, this was quite possibly the one that I was looking forward to the most. My husband told me afterwards that if we had been married in the fall, this is what he would have wanted our wedding to look like: The ultimate compliment!
Jessie and Chris had an overall vision for an organic feeling, yet elegant celebration with a color scheme of Deep Reds, Dusty Pinks, and Ivory. Other than that, they let us run wild. So we took their vision, tossed in a whole lot of gorgeous greenery and created one for the books!
For the personal flowers, I created wild & loosely structured bouquets with lots of olive, eucalyptus, and jasmine vine to give that organic feeling with some deep bold blooms … Read More »
Mackalah & Brent were married in a beautiful barn in Knoxville, IL on June 7, 2014. I’ve been to a lot of weddings and I’ve seen a lot of stuff… but I’ve never seen so much rain. And yet it was absolutely perfect.
When the torrential downpours forced the ceremony indoors, the setting quickly changed from an open field surrounded by tall grasses to a rustic, dimly lit barn with old wooden floors and bales of hay scattered around the room for additional seating.
Their floral palate consisted of the most beautiful pastel & romantic blooms that early summer has to offer. We used lush & fluffy white & pink peonies, peach garden roses, lisianthus, as well as accents of white veronica & white tweedia. Accented with gorgeous silk ribbon from Frou Frou Chic, along with the lush fluffy blooms, Mackalah’s bouquet was by far one of my absolute favorites.
As I watched the two stand under the hanging lights of the barn and exchange vows, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmingly blessed. I’ve known Mackalah growing up pretty much all my life, and it was such an honor to create a bouquet that she would walk down the aisle with to start her new … Read More »
Jenny & Craig were married this summer at Salvage One, and as eclectic of a venue as Salvage One is, the decor elements of their wedding flowed together seamlessly. Jenny and Craig are such a sweet couple and were such a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process.
Jenny requested blush and romantic flowers for her bouquets and that is what we delivered! The most gorgeous white and blush fluffy peonies mixed with light peach juliet garden roses, and a little bit of blush sweet pea to tie everything together. I absolutely loved her bouquet and it smelled like heaven!
For the reception, Jenny provided me with mason jars, some of which her students had helped her dip in glitter, how cute! The jars combined with the beautiful sequin chevron table runners and the blush floral created a beautiful and relaxed summer inspired atmosphere inside the space. Jenny & Craig you were both an absolute pleasure to work with and we wish you all the best!! Now enjoy the stunning images below captured by the amazing photography team of T & S Hughes!
