Venue Spotlight: Chicago Illuminating Company

Posted on March 8th, by Life in Bloom in blog. No Comments

Every Wednesday we are giving you the best Chicago wedding venues, and helping you narrow down your search! Today, we are highlighting the Chicago Illuminating Company. This gorgeous venue is a hidden gem in the South Loop!

Venue: Chicago Illuminating Company

Capacity: 250-300 Guests for Seated Reception

Location: South Loop

About:

The Chicago Illuminating Company has quickly become one of our favorite Chicago Wedding venues. From the moment you walk in, the space captures you. The stunning molding, fixed bar, and oversized doors leading out into the tented area are everything you will ever need in a venue! The space is divided into the tented outdoor courtyard and the indoor dining room. This division makes having ceremony and reception here a breeze. Not to mention, it feels like you are having an outdoor wedding in Chicago, with no need for a rain plan! You must check it out yourself!

Tips:

The space is all neutral, so you can really play it up however you would like. We love to see an arch/chuppah filled with greenery for the outdoor ceremony! (Pro tip: re-use this for your photo backdrop during dancing). The greenery compliments the lush plants that are already in the space during the spring, summer, and fall. In the dining room, adding chandeliers to the space is amazing. There is also an incredible glass shelving unit that  is perfect for displaying photos, favors, or even some stunning florals! Check out these photos from a recent photoshoot in the space:

Venue Spotlight: Chicago Athletic Association

Posted on February 28th, by Life in Bloom in blog, Uncategorized. No Comments

It’s Wednesday and with that, we are highlighting another one of our favorite Chicago wedding venues for 2017. If you have been following along, once a week we are turning the spotlight to some of our favorite venues to help you narrow down your venue search. This week, our venue is a combination of historic downtown Chicago architecture with the luxury of modern upgrades. Sounds like the perfect wedding venue, right? It could only be the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel and today we are talking about why it is one of Life in Bloom’s favorite spots to say “I do”.

Venue: Chicago Athletic Association

Capacity: Seated Reception – 250 Guests

Location: Magnificent Mile

About:

If you have yet to check out the completely renovated Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, there is no better time than the present, especially if you are searching for the perfect wedding venue. The historic venue encompasses the old world charm of the original building with stunning new upgrades. The White City Ballroom is the perfect space for your seated reception. With floor-to-ceiling windows looking over Lake Michigan and Michigan Avenue, there is no doubt you are in the heart of Chicago. The Madison ballroom is the perfect spot to have an on-site ceremony, the detailed molding and crystal chandeliers are like none other. The CAA has the convenience of a hotel with the charm of a luxury venue (not your typical hotel ballroom).

Tips:

Candlelight is a MUST at the dark-wooded venue for a romantic ambiance. We love seeing a lot of greenery and candle light on the guest tables. If you are bringing in any decor (tables, chairs, etc.) dark wood with gold, bronze, or brass accents is a beautiful addition to the space. Pro Tip: Because the windows are East Facing, the space can get quite dark at night and adding a nice lighting package will really help highlight your tables!

Venue Spotlight: Museum of Contemporary Art

Posted on February 21st, by Life in Bloom in blog. No Comments

Today, we are putting the spotlight on a beautiful Chicago wedding venue located in the heart of downtown. A space overlooking the lake, a sculpture garden, and stunning architecture, could only be: the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Venue: Museum of Contemporary Art – MCA

Atrium & Terrace

Capacity: Seated Ceremony & Reception – 200 Guests

Seated Reception Only – 300 Guests

Location: Magnificent Mile

About:

The Museum of Contemporary Art is no ordinary museum, it is actually one of the world’s largest contemporary art museums. Your guests are surrounded by incredible exhibits and are actually allowed to explore them during your wedding. The museum has an architecturally stunning garden area where you can have your ceremony. For your reception, you can choose the outdoor terrace, or the atrium in the midst of museum exhibits.

Tips:

If you are having a reception in the atrium, we love to see color. The walls are white and when you bring in color, the room is breath-taking! We also love to see cafe lights strung in this area, the ceilings are stunning, yet very tall so the cafe lights make the dinner experience more cozy. If your reception is on the terrace, long tables with low arrangements is the perfect fit. We also love to see cafe lights on the terrace: as seen below!
